Lac d?Oo is a good walk, a bit hard going at times, but when you reach the lake it is worth the climb. A great place to take a picnic and enjoy the splendour of the Pyrenees.
Within a 2 hour drive is the Cirque de Gavarnie (below), a spectacular natural structure and listed as a world heritage site. This photo was taken in May 2008.
The Pyrenees are formed with many horseshoe shape valleys and a great number of lakes.
On the way up to Le Mourtis ski resort there is a lovely short walk up L?Escallette. On the rocky outcrop at the top there are stunning views of the Pyrenees.
Many of the walks follow rivers and mountain streams, ideal for cooling off. Just across the border in Spain we went to Artigue above the village of Es Bordes for a great short walk ideal for families with stunning views and convenient stine picnic areas.
From our gites you can enjoy many walks and definitely enjoy the scenery.
